I think Thoreau is a man in action and of liberty. Most of people at that time regard him as an eccentric man, especially when they heard he was living in forest alone. It is beyond their comprehension. Though, from the point of Thoreau’s view that common sense of ordinary people was strange. Certainly if we judge him by common sense he seems to be strange, but I think he had reasonable common sense. Then what was his reasonable common sense? I want to write about his reasonable common sense.
Emerson’s idea of transcendentalism had a great influence on Thoreau. I think Emerson’s idea that American people cultivate their spirit not only depend on the English way of thinking but also find American way of thinking and American nation also have to improve self-reliance spirit is great.
