Most common way of communication is use of “language”. We speak or write “language” to communicate with each other. We tell our feelings using language. I think “language” is a necessary for our human life. However, “language” often does not make things clear. Instead, it creates lots of confusion because “language” is difficult and complex thing. Many factors can change the meaning in “language” and also the structure of “language” also can change the meaning. I’d like to talk about 4 main points that which makes “language” unclear and make us confuse.
First, most common “language” that we think unclear is a type of idioms and metaphor. We need imagination or knowledge to understand the true meaning. These types of the “language” are very vague and there are many possibilities of the meanings. For example, if we say, “baby is an angel”, this phrase’s true meaning is a baby is innocent and cute like an angel. Truly, a baby is not really an angel but our image of an angel is innocent and cute. This fits to baby’s image so I used this word, “angel” to describe a baby. Some word or phrases does not describe thing directly.
Next, I want to talk about the lies. I mean all kind of lies, both good and bad. Sometimes we say different then what we are truly thinking inside in our heart. Some lies, we can easily understand true thinking but, sometimes we couldn’t understand we even do not think like “is that lie or not”.

Determine the relationship between the temperature of carbonated beverage and its acidity. We feel acid is strong when the soda is really cold. On the other hand, even the exact same type of soda, we feel acid is weak when the drink is warm. In this experiment, we will measure the pH of different temperature carbonated beverages. If we all pH are same, we can show that the temperature do nothing with acidity and if we can see the changes of pH, we can prove that the temperature relate with acidity. I think for cold drink, we will get the high pH because we taste strong. And I think for warm drink, we will get the low pH because we taste weak. However, I think the difference of pH value will be very small because, carbonic acid is already weak acid. And also, already one error can be predicted and that is when we open the can. Some carbon dioxide will release to the air so, that can cause some error.
>>> PROCEDURE
?Setup computer and pH meter (sensor).
?Open one can and quickly put pH meter and thermometer,
?Setup the bowl with water and ice.
?Put 3 cans into the bowl with water and ice.
?After 1 minute, quickly open the can and put pH meter and thermometer. Then record the temperature and pH.
?After 5minutes, do same things. Record the data.
?After 10 minutes, do same things. Record the data.
?Setup the Bunsen burner.
?Wear glove then quickly open the can and put pH meter and thermometer. Then record the temperature and pH.
?Place one can on the Bunsen burner for 1 minute.
This article discusses general aspects of the usage of computer game software in schools, especially game play software, to help learners achieve their goal. It pays particular reference to their motivation.
Games are played not just to win or to achieve a goal. General aspects of computer game play can be competitive, co-operative or individualistic and arouse learners’ intrinsic motivations. This type of motivation to play is “the challenge, fantasy, curiosity and control that games afford. It is this adaptive interactivity that makes games attractive.” Table 2 highlights features that contribute to motivation.
These features give the play environment at hand “an important role in psychological, social and intellectual development, and computer games may offer opportunities that complement real play.” While the learners are playing, they will learn to understand why rules are necessary and what rules are sensible. Games allow the player to act “in role”.
However, some disadvantages of game software should be taken into consideration for “Games are not universally well designed and are subject to the generic software problems of a confusing interface, insufficient feedback for the user and illogical rules or constraints within the game.” At worst, there might be an extreme case where players transfer their game skills in shooting, physical violence and vicious destruction to their everyday lives.
“ Now the English achievement of Japanese college students is low.”, people say. They have studied English for about 10 years. But some of them can’t speak easy English conversation. Although I have studied English for more than 5 years, I can’t speak English perfectly. Why can’t we master English? Is there a problem in English education in Japan?
I think there is a problem in the starting time. It is too late to start learning English. Most Japanese people start it from junior high school. We should start learning English earlier.
