社会福祉援助技術の歴史的展開について　社会福祉援助技術における人と人との助け合いや支え合いの精神は、古代より、さまざまな手法・形で行われてきた。しかし、近代以前の援助は、狭小な範囲内においての援助が主であった。具体的には、家族や親せきなどの血縁や、同じ部落や村落における地縁の同質の集団内部での助け合いに限られていた。これらの狭小な枠組みを超えたものが、いわゆる「慈善」や「博愛」という考え方である。これらの考え方の根底には、援助者個人の「憐れみ」や「同情」といった感情や自己満足、あるいは、キリスト教的倫理観が主な動機となっている。現代におけるすべての国民を対象に最低生活を保障する社会制度とは異

Effects of Music in A Streetcar Named Desire
Music plays an important role in A Streetcar named Desire because it appears in almost every scene and expresses the atmosphere in a very distinct way. It is permeated by the different type of music: the blue piano and the Varsouviana Polka. Each one appears in scenes which are occupied by a certain emotional state of Blanche. Therefore, music helps us to understand the mental condition of Blanche and the mood of this play, which cannot be depicted by lines and actions.

“Letter from a Freedman to His Old Master”
This article was the most interesting one for me throughout the textbook. It must sound strange because slavery issues were so tensed, but I enjoyed reading what was said in the article. The letter Jourdan Anderson wrote implies how his life was going well compared to the one while he was a slave. Although slavery brought many advantages for people especially in the South, I disagree with the slavery from the perspective of ethics. Whatever reasons, it did not seem right to enslave people against their will.
