Aim:
/Experiment 1. Find out the ΔH of neutralization
/Experiment 2. Find out the heat of combustion of the ethanol.
/Experiment 3. Find out the heat of reaction between CuSO4 and Mg.
Hypothesis:
/Experiment 1. I think the result become negative value. (Endothermic)
/Experiment 2. I think the result become negative value. (Endothermic)
/Experiment 3. I think the result become positive value. ,(Exothermic)
*Exothermic Reaction:If the bonds in the products are stronger than the bonds in the reactants then the reaction is Exothermic. Heat is given out to the surroundings.
*Endothermic Reaction:If the bonds in the reactants are stronger than the bonds in the products then the reaction is Endothermic. Heat is absorbed from the surroundings.
Procedure:
/Experiment 1. 1) Using measuring cylinder, take 50 (1mol)of HCL and .50 (1mol)of NaOH then put each to different beaker.2) Setup TI-83, Lab Pro and Temperature Pro.3) Put both solutions to the Calorimeter.4) Put Temperature Pro into Calorimeter and start collecting data.5) Calculate using data you recorded.
Conclusion .and Evaluation: In this experiment, we used “Temperature Pro”, so instead of using thermometer, I think we got correct temperature but we think we had problem in Experiment 2 that have to find out the heat of combustion. The problem was that we used stand and alcohol lamp to burn beaker. As a result, some heat could go away from the gap between lamp and beaker. To avoid this problem, I think we should use something to keep heat inside.
