In the Book of Joshua, there are a lot of the attacks and the distribution of the lands to the tribes. Joshua is a successor of Moses and tells the God’s words to Israelite people. And these God’s words through Joshua are about social things and individual things. In this point of view, the Book of Joshua is about the social charters and individual identity.
First, I mention the social charters. As I said above, Joshua is a successor of Moses and informs the God’s words to the Israelites to attack many lands such as Jericho, Ai, Hazor, and so on. Every time they attack the lands, God tell them not to be afraid of it and that nobody would interfere with them. God makes all the Israelites relieve and encourages them. Thanks to these words, the Israelites can have the faith and attack the other lands without fear. God’s words give the Israelites the esprit de corps. In addition to that, God gives the idea of the way for attack. In the Bible, Joshua said, “the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to the LORD for destruction.”(Joshua 6:17) Every time they attack the lands, they kill off the inhabitants.
After the attacks, they distribute the lands to the tribes. In the Book of Joshua, the land distributions are written in detail. The lands are, as it were, booties. The Israelites divide the lands and there is no quarrel or battle among the tribes because the lands they get are given by God and God tells them, “I myself will drive them out from before the people of Israel.
